Considered the founder and first emperor of the Roman Empire, Augustus referred to himself as “first citizen,” rather than emperor. His reign is most famous for initiating the Pax Romana (Roman Peace), a 200-year period of relative stability. Perhaps some of our current leaders could learn from his deeds?
